Doug Laughton is one of the key figures in British Rugby league in the last 40 years.
His playing career started at St Helens in 1962. He then moved to Wigan and captained them in the 1970 Challenge Cup Final.
A further move followed to Widnes, with more success, including four Wembley finals.
He also captained Great Britain and was a member of the last British Lions team to beat the Australians.
As a coach, he won every trophy in the game with Widnes, including a memorable World Club Challenge victory over Canberra in 1989. He signed Jonathan Davies and Martin Offiah for Widnes. He managed Leeds from 1991 to 1995, which included two more Wembley finals.
